Porsche completes generational change of the 911 series with next-gen Targa roadster.
After the presentation of the new-generation Porsche 911 Carrera in 2019 and the Porsche 911 Turbo this year, the German automaker had only to showcase the next iteration of the most compact member of the 911 lineup, the Targa Roadster. This event was not long in coming.
The 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4 is powered by a six-cylinder 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine that develops 385 hp, and in combination with the optional Sport Chrono Package accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds – one tenth faster than before.
The engine in the 911 Targa 4S develops 450 hp and lets you make the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.6 seconds – 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor.
The top speed of the 911 Targa 4 is 289 km/h, the 911 Targa 4S’s -304 km/h.
The both sports cars come as standard with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) intelligent all-wheel drive.
In addition, the 911 Targa 4S can be ordered with a newly developed seven-speed manual transmission.
The highlight of the new Targa is the fully automatic roof folding system. Traditionally, the roadster has a movable roof section over the front seats and a folding rear window. You can open and close the roof in just 19 seconds.
