Skoda does not intend to abandon the Fabia. Moreover, in 2021 the next generation of the model will debut on the MQB A0 architecture.
The cheapest Skoda model will be introduced next year in a new iteration. Autocar reports that the Fabia will share the platform with the Audi A1 Sportback and Volkswagen Polo.
MQB should make the cabin more comfortable and spacious, but the exterior dimensions of the Fabia are unlikely to change.
Despite global trends, initially the new Skoda Fabia will not be electrified, even in a mild hybrid form.
Autocar’s insiders say the rejection of new technologies will keep the model in the budget segment. However, in the future, the Czech supermini will possibly have a “green” version.
The Fabia will come with familiar engines, albeit not diesels. Probably, a three-cylinder petrol turbocharged TSI engine will be the base one.
As for the current Fabia (pictured above), it is built on a platform that is 12 years old. The second and third generations of the model use this architecture. Thus, the difference between the previous generation and the “fourth” Fabia is more significant.
As for the car’s look, its design will be in par with the Kamiq crossover, Scala hatchback and the latest Octavia.
