Audi has introduced an eco-friendly hatchback running on natural gas – the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron.
The 2021 Audi A3 Sedan and Sportback debuted this spring, followed then by the hot S3 in August 2020. Now it’s time for a new iteration of the low-emission version of Audi’s popular model.
The 2021 Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo TSI engine that makes 131 hp (96 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm.
The same engine running on the Miller combustion process powers the Skoda Octavia G-Tec.
The vehicle is very efficient and consumes just 3.5-3.6 kg CNG per 100 km (NEDC rates). The maximum range with full gas tanks (there are 3 of them) is up to 445 km (276 mi) according to WLTP cycle.
0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration takes 9.7 seconds. The top speed the model achieves is 211 km/h (131 mph).
The new A3 Sportback 30 g-tron’s exterior, interior and technologies carried over from the regular 2021 A3.
Sales begin this autumn. A starting price in Germany is €30,705.
