The latest-generation Land Rover Defender 110 – a production version – will test its durability in one of the most extreme rallies on the planet.
Land Rover has the opportunity to once again showcase its new Defender SUV in a tough test. We’re talking about the 2021 Dakar Rally – a challenge that couldn’t be more difficult!
The two production Defender 110s, according to the automaker, will be used as support vehicles for the Prodrive and Bahrain Raid Xtreme teams.
The Defenders will transport crew members and equipment for the team. Moreover, those off-road vehicles will become a haven where rally participants will rest, eat and sleep. The vehicles are equipped with a deployable roof ladder to facilitate access to luggage and team equipment.
The SUVs have an Explorer Pack. In addition to the ladder, this package includes a roof rack, raised air intake, wheel arch protection and exterior side-mounted gear carrier.
The rally is divided into 12 stages with a total length of 7,646 km. Conditions will be truly extreme: sand dunes, mud and rocks.
The Land Rover Defender 110s with 400-hp Ingenium 6-cylinder petrol engines and mild hybrid tech will take part in the Dakar.
