Honda is testing the third-generation HR-V compact SUV. Spies have recently spotted a camouflaged prototype on the roads in Europe.
The next HR-V will have a completely different design, even sportier, compared with the current 8-year-old model.
The mull in the photos looks like a coupe-SUV. It has a taller nose, more squared off front end, more pronounced grille and headlights.
The new Honda HR-V will be only available with a hybrid powertrain in the European market.
The e:HEV system comprises a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, a pair of electric motors and a compact lithium-ion battery pack. We expect the total output will exceed 108bhp / 80.5kW (developed by a smaller Honda Jazz).
The interior is still unseen. Expect it will be more minimalist, similar to the new Civic’s.
Honda will launch the HR-V in 2021, as well as the next Civic: likely, first in Japan, then on other markets.
