3rd-generation Nissan Qashqai Revealed: New Platform, Innovative e-Power

The all-new Nissan Qashqai crossover for Europe is bringing an elegant design, enhanced packaging and efficient powertrain in combination with elevated quality.

Teams of Nissan’s European Design Studio and Technical Centre Europe located in Great Britain worked on this iteration.

The 2022 Qashqai is the first new model in Europe to use the CMF-C platform.

The crossover features new suspension and steering design, gets the next generation ProPILOT driver assistance suite (ProPILOT with Navi-link) that brings greater driver support.

Exterior

The third generation is more muscular, sharper and larger (35mm longer, 25mm taller, 32mm wider). It has an extended wheelbase (+20mm) and, for the first time on the Qashqai, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The vehicle features new intelligent LED lighting, an enlarged Nissan V-Motion grille. There is a powered hands-free tailgate.

Overall luggage capacity ncreases by over 50 litres; the Flexible Luggage Board System remains. Rear doors now open to 90 degrees, allowing easier access to babies and toddlers in child-seats.

Customers will be available to choose from 11 body colours with five two-tone combinations, creating 16 variations.

Interior

The interior becomes more connected, comfortable and commanding. New white ambient lighting is used throughout the cabin. The switch gear and buttons are of high, ergonomic and aesthetically quality.

The new-gen Nissan Qashqai offers an advanced infotainment system with a wide portfolio of connected services, a bigger, higher resolution 9-inch Nissan Connect display compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay.

A new all-electronic 12.3 inch TFT multi-information screen provides a choice of configurable layouts. An innovative 10.8-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) is also available for the 2022 Nissan Qashqai.

Home-to-Car skills are compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa devices. The system supports many commands.

Connectivity extends to all occupants: the console box now offers front and rear USB charging connections with both USB-A and USB-C ports.

Electrified Powertrains

The 1.3 DiG-T petrol 138 hp/156 hp 12-volt mild hybrid system remains for the new-gen vehicle. Improvements are made to both fuel economy and CO2 output (-4 g/km).

The Quashqai is available with either two- or four-wheel drive, a 6-speed manual transmission or a new Xtronic automatic one.

A new 4WD control system and driving selection mode is more intuitive and intelligent. It adapts to external conditions with five driving modes – Standard, ECO, Sport, Snow and Off-Road.

The new Nissan Qashqai also represents the European debut of the e-Power inovative powertrain.

The e-Power system comprises of a high-output battery, a 1.5-litre petrol engine, with a final power output of 140 kW (187 hp). The engine is used solely to generate electricity, whilst an electric motor drives the wheels.

The engine always runs within its optimal range: this leads to superior fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions compared with a traditional internal combustion engine.

Thanks to the pure electric motor drive, there’s instant response delivering high torque feel and best level acceleration at different speeds.

Like the LEAF, the Nissan Qashqai e-Power benefits from a so-called e-Pedal. Drivers can start, accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator pedal.
